Common questions
Does the timer keep running if I leave the app?
Yes. A session runs on the clock, not on the app, so it ends on time even if you close Timewell, lock your iPhone or restart it. With notifications on, you’ll get an alert when it’s done.
Why can’t I pause a session?
Pausing makes it easy to drift, so Timewell doesn’t offer it. If you need to stop, tap End Early: you can save the time you focused, discard it, or keep going.
I didn’t get an alert when my session ended.
Open Settings › Apps › Timewell › Notifications and turn on Allow Notifications. If a Focus is on, it may be silencing alerts; you can allow Timewell in that Focus’s settings.
Can I use Timewell for Pomodoro?
Yes, as a manual routine. Start a 25-minute session, take your break when it ends, then start the next one. Timewell never starts a break or another session on its own, so it doesn’t count rounds for you.
Can I use Siri or Shortcuts?
Yes. Say “Focus in Timewell” to start a session, or “How much time is left in Timewell” to check one. Every action is also in the Shortcuts app.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your iPhone. There’s no account and nothing is sent to us. Deleting the app deletes your history, so keep a device backup if you want to hold on to it. See the privacy policy for details.
Does Timewell work offline?
Yes. There’s no account and no server, so starting, timing and saving sessions all work without a connection.
Is there an iPad version?
Timewell is made for iPhone today. iPad support is planned.
